Everyone is Reading... even the fish :)

Well this summer we have been frequenting the library and various story times. We decided to join the library summer reading club to create a goal for Big Sis on which to focus. So far we have achieved the second level of prizes. She was thrilled to get her prizes. I've never heard this kid so excited about getting a coupon in my life. Big Sis has always loved books and has a great memory of the story. I was wondering if that was going to happen for Baby Girl. (Praying and hoping) Within this last month the book interest has emerged and turned into an obsession. Bringing a book with us in the car for baby girl is almost better than a binkie. Books have been such an obsession that I caught this book set up by Big Sis allowing her fish to read. Good thing the page wasn't a huge shark or something. It might have scared him. Well, we have 13 more days the reach our goal and 9 more squares to check off for our reading goal.

When getting in the car after getting her prizes Big Sis asked if I want to share some of her prizes with her. I told her, "No honey that is okay you did the reading for them."
Her response, "But, mom you helped me."

Those are days when it is good to be a mom.

Our first School Picnic leads to a pet!!

We had our offical school picnic a few weeks ago at the preschool that Big Sis attends. We ventured up there to ride some rides and have some fun. It was great becasue the rides were not too scary for the littler kids. It was great opportunity to support our local school.

Big Sis loved the slide and the pink elephant ride. Swings were a bit scary so we only went on those once. Much to my dismay she didn't want to go on the ferris wheel except when we told her it was time to leave. Which was a 3 year old's attempt to not go home for a nap.

We did face paint and played carnival games for silly prizes. Good old mom even won a stuffed animal by through darts at ballons. I was much out done by our neighbor went to the picnic also and played some of the carnival games. Addy actually won a goldfish at a pretty difficult game.

So later that afternoon there was a knock at the door from Addy holding a plastic bag with a goldfish inside giving his prize as a gift to Big Sis. That is how Francine the Fish entered our lives.

Big Sis loved Fran and was actually good at taking care of her. In the morning she remember and asked to feed her. She liked it when she would get active and swim around. Well the fish last from Saturday to Thursday and the took a trip back to the ocean via the toilet. Big Sis handled that well too. She helped flush and then realized Fran was gone. She cried a little and we explained she probably was happy while she lived with us but it was time to go back to the ocean. We will probably be fish owners again in the near future. Part of me wanted the carnival goldfish to defy all odds and live longer, but not in the plans for the Dean Family.
